GTA 6 Code in a Box – What Is It and Is It Worth It?
In short: With GTA 6 as a Code in a Box, you get a regular game case – but instead of a disc, it contains a download code for the PlayStation Store or Xbox Store. Perfect for consoles without a disc drive – and cheaper than the store with us.
What is Code in a Box?
The packaging looks like a normal game case with cover art. Instead of a disc, there's a slip inside with a download code.
You redeem the code on your PlayStation or Xbox account and download the game. After that, GTA 6 is permanently in your digital library – exactly as if you had bought it directly from the store.

Who is Code in a Box for?
- You have a console without a disc drive, such as the PS5 Digital Edition. You couldn't use a disc – but you can use the code.
- You want to play digitally without paying the full store price.
- You're giving the game as a gift – a box under the Christmas tree beats an email with a code.
The disc is only the better choice if you like to resell your games after finishing them – a redeemed code is tied to your account for good.

- Check the region: Buy a version for the German or European store.
- Free up storage: GTA 6 will be big – we explain how to make room in GTA 6: How to Get Your PS5 or Xbox Ready.
- Order early: That way your code arrives before release.
Redeem the code as soon as it arrives. GTA 6 will then already be in your library, and you can pre-load it the moment Rockstar enables the download.
